Laos, also known as Lao, is a country in Southeast Asia that has borders with China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar. There are only roughly 9 million people living in this 2,36,800 square kilometer country. We are collaborating with the Ministry of Health to conduct Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (AMR) in this incredibly beautiful country. However, while being considerably larger in size, this nation's per capita income (2551 dollars) is nearly same to Bangladesh's. The majority of people in this area practice Buddhism (66%) while roughly 33% are members of the Tai Folk or Satsana Phi religion, which is a hybrid of Buddhism and Hinduism.
The cost of the food is tolerable, but it is expensive in terms of money because dinner cost 1,87,000 kip (BDT-1100, USD 11)! Passport holders from Bangladesh must have a visa to enter this country. We are not eligible for an e-Visa. I inquired about the problem with the Lao embassy in Korea, and they informed me that there is no MoU with our government.
However, a significant number of tourists travel here each year to enjoy their vacations. Here are a few of tourist places I had set as my targets: Blue Legoon in Vang Vieng, Phou Khao Khouay National Park, Kuang Si Waterfall, and Nong Khiaw, Buddha Park. I visited a number of them, but I didn't get an opportunity to see them all on this trip, and I have plans to go to a few more in the future.
In this article, I'll describe my itinerary:
